Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones passed away yesterday. Ms. Tubbs was the 1st African-American woman elected to the House of Representatives from Ohio and a leader in the fight against predatory lending practices. She was only 58 years of age. The cause of death is said to be a ruptured brain aneurysm that Ms. Tubbs Jones suffered Tuesday while driving her car.
Tubbs Jones, a superdelegate and Sen. Hillary Clinton supporter, was scheduled to speak on retirement at a symposium during the Democratic National Convention. Tubbs Jones, a former municipal court judge, took a lot of heat during the primary when she loyally supported Clinton despite her constituents’ support of Obama.
