Associated Press wants some money for Obama

Pop artist Shep Fairey has had his share of critics, but now the Associated Press is suing him for using their image to create the iconic portrait of Obama we have grown to love and BUY. They want that money and that credit for the photograph that “inspired” Shep. Shep and his band of lawyers feel this will go away with the proper talks (aka cut the check, buddy!).

Drunken Negro Faces... I really hope something bad happens to this man

I saw this courtesy of Miss Xpose on her site and one of her avid readers Sassybear brought this to her attention... needless to say 1. as a black man I'm offended and 2. I hope hell and fire reign down on his ass. Oh NO I'm not overreacting.

Miss Xpose on this:

One of our loyal readers (Sassybear), told MissXpose about this disturbing article that hit the web. A bakery owner in Greenwich Village, NY was selling a cookie called “Drunken Negro Face” cookies which was supposedly in honor of our first black president, Barack Obama. Ted Kefalinos, the owner of Lafayette French Pastry, said he didn’t see anything offensive about the cookies. After the news broadcasted the story and customers called him with death threats, he apologized to his community for selling the racist cookies.

“Seriously, from the bottom of my heart, it was an innocent design that I created and it was nothing more than just a piece of art,” he told the local Fox News affiliate. I don’t believe he is sincere!

Baby Black Bear found dead on campus with Obama sign around head

First off can I just point out... am I the only one that feels these people should be a little more outraged? I mean upset or some shit they act like 1. killing a baby bear is borderline okay 2. it's just some statement politically 3. might have some racial stuff and 4. like it was another damn day on the campus. Hell if someone did that shit on my campus when I was in school there'd be an uproar.

Jeezy on Politics

Young Jeezy is still on his political campaign to get everyone to vote. The Snowman is leaning heavily toward the Democratic side, especially since Republican presidential nominee John McCain chose Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate.

“I like Joe [Biden] a little bit better than Sarah,” Jeezy said recently. “I understand she’s the soccer mom and all that, and that’s good. But if something happens to McCain, then what? Do you want a soccer mom to run the country? That’s cool. I mean, she can run the house, though. I like Joe, though. Definitely. You got to be tough. I mean, I’m definitely not saying anything against what women do, but at the same time, Joe’s firm, Barack [Obama]’s firm. They’re straight to the point. They don’t beat around the bush. Both parties can do the job, but if I had my pick, I’m definitely going with Joe and Barack.”

In related news, Barack Obama has purchased a half-hour of primetime television on CBS and NBC to air at 8pm on Oct. 29, less than a week before the general election and one night before the start of November sweeps. The price tag is said to be in the “tens of millions of dollars.”

Brotha in a Obama shirt got 3 times... for wearing an Obama shirt... wow...

A man told today how he was shot three times in a London street for wearing a Barack Obama T-shirt.

Dube Egwuatu was buying a mobile telephone top-up card in an off-licence when the gunman confronted him and glared at the top, which carries an image of the Democrat US presidential candidate underneath the legend ‘Believe’.

The man then launched into a tirade of racist slurs, shouting ‘I f***ing hate n*****s’ and urging 36-year-old Mr Egwuatu to leave the shop with him.

Springsteen wraps Obama Tour up on Eastern Michigan University

Gary Graff, Ypsilanti, Mich.

Bruce Springsteen concluded his three-day barnstorming tour in support of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama today (Oct. 6) with an eight-song, 50-minute acoustic set at Oestrike Stadium on the campus of Eastern Michigan University.

"Hello Michigan. Hello Ypsilanti -- glad to be here. I don't know how to spell it though," Springsteen told the crowd, which university officials estimated at 5,000, before kicking into "The Promised Land."

The set also included "The Ghost of Tom Joad," "Thunder Road, "Devils & Dust," "Used Car" -- which drew cheers for its reference to nearby Michigan Avenue ("You can't go wrong singing a song that has the name of the state in it," Springsteen said) -- "No Surrender," "The Rising" and Woody Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land."

Early in the show, Springsteen noted, "I was on the campaign trail four years ago. This time we're winning." And before "The Rising," he made a long speech similar to those he delivered Saturday in Philadelphia and yesterday in Columbus, Ohio (the text is posted on his official Web site).

He said he believed Obama's Republican rival, Senator John McCain, would begin launching "an attack on Senator Obama's character that will make the Swift Boaters look fair and balanced ... they will fail." Springsteen finished the show leading the crowd in a rhythmic chant of Obama's campaign slogan, "Yes we can."

Springsteen isn't finished with his Obama activism efforts. On Oct. 16, he will join Billy Joel and John Legend for a fund-raiser on behalf of the candidate at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom.

Vibe don't like white people! Well just Eminem

“When I did a recent interview with Vibe Magazine I asked, ‘Why can’t I get the cover? This is a magazine I love. If there’s one magazine that I’d want to be on the cover of, it’s Vibe,” Thicke told Billboard. “Their response was they don’t have white artists on the cover; that the only white artist they’ve had on the cover was Eminem. I guess if that’s what it is, it is what it is.”

“I respect that because I live in a house with a black woman. I won’t use the word racism. I will say it’s a tough — but rewarding — fight.”
Danyel Smith, Vibe vice president, responded to Thicke’s comments, but didn’t deny them either:

“We have a great deal of respect for Robin Thicke and his music, and we remain flattered by his desire to be on a Vibe cover,” said Smith. “A Vibe cover is a huge milestone in any artist’s career. Recent cover stars include Young Jeezy, Mariah Carey, 50 Cent, Usher, Senator Barack Obama, Eminem, Lil Wayne, and Robert De Niro, to say nothing of our 15-year history. We wish Thicke the best, and were glad he discusses his thoughts on race and R&B in the new October 2008 issue of Vibe.”

Obama has a running mate

Reaction to Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's selection of Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware as his running mate.

"In naming my colleague and friend Sen. Joe Biden to be the vice presidential nominee, Sen. Obama has continued in the best traditions for the vice presidency by selecting an exceptionally strong, experienced leader and devoted public servant. Sen. Biden will be a purposeful and dynamic vice president who will help Sen. Obama both win the presidency and govern this great country." — Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York.

"There has been no harsher critic of Barack Obama's lack of experience than Joe Biden. Biden has denounced Barack Obama's poor foreign policy judgment and has strongly argued in his own words what Americans are quickly realizing — that Barack Obama is not ready to be president." — Ben Porritt, spokesman for the John McCain campaign.
