Beatles are down to be on Rock Band

Rob Levine, N.Y.
It looks like the Beatles are coming to top-selling video game "Rock Band."

The Beatles' Apple Corps Ltd. and MTV have scheduled a press teleconference tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. ET to announce "an exclusive agreement to develop a global music project."

Although the announcement does not offer details on the agreement, representatives for the Beatles have been talking to MTV's "Rock Band" team for months.

If a deal is signed, "Rock Band" will have secured two of the top-selling catalog bands of all time for versions of the game. AC/DC recently became the subject of a "Rock Band Track Pack," featuring 18 live versions of hits like "Thunderstruck and "Back in Black." The title, like the band's new album, "Black Ice," is a Wal-Mart exclusive.

Both AC/DC and the Beatles remain absent from digital music services,
including the iTunes Music Store, AmazonMP3 and others.

MTV declined to comment.

Rumor... Jay-z to sign Lil Wayne?

Rumor has it that Jay-Z is the process of signing Lil Wayne to his Roc Nation label. We hear that Hova is willing to buy out Wayne’s contract with Cash Money for $5 Million to secure the deal. This deal will unite two of the hip hop industry’s biggest artist. “The deal was in the works for a while; they just needed to get on the same page as to price. And [everyone’s] there now,” an unnamed source told the online publication.

As previously reported, Roc Nation was formed between Jay-Z and concert promoter Live Nation. The company controls the rapper’s business and recording assets as part of the agreement.

Back Again: Jackson 5 to Reunite next year

Pip Bulbeck, The Hollywood Reporter

The Jackson 5 will reunite in 2009, brother Jermaine Jackson confirmed today (Oct. 29) at a TV industry function in Sydney.

Jackson is in Australia to help launch a new "greatest hits" TV channel for paynet Foxtel and confirmed the rumors at the event.

"This has been a long time coming for the Jackson family to get back together," he told the Australian Associated Press.

"It is just the timing, so what we've been doing is working on the music and all the logistics. It is going to be more like a family affair, Janet's going to open and, of course, the original Jackson 5 ... Michael, Randy and the whole family ... We're in the studio, we're planning on being out there next year."

The Jacksons received a lifetime achievement award from BMI in early September in Los Angeles, but brother Marlon made no secret of his displeasure with Michael's absence at the ceremony.

Asked where Jackson was, he told the Associated Press, "I don't know. I think he's in Egypt riding a camel or something."

The Jacksons rose to fame in the late '60s recording for Motown. Brother Michael had become a solo star by the late '70s, although he remained in the group through the 1984 album "Victory." One last release, 1989's "2300 Jackson Street," featured limited involvement by him and Marlon.

Apparently Deelishis is telling us how to get right in bed!

Okay so check this out…Flava of Love winner, Deelishis, says that if you want to graduate to advanced sexual techniques but your girl is stuck on the basics, she is the “sexpert” that can help you bring ol’ girl up to your level. Here’s Deelishis’ advice in the new issue of Deelishis magazine (also, see pics below):

* WARNING: SUGGESTIVE LANGUAGE *

PICK YOUR PARTNER: What’s Kinky If you want to graduate to advanced sexual techniques but your girl is stuck on the basics, sex expert Deelishis can help you bring ol’ girl up to your level. PICK YOUR PARTNER First and foremost, kinky sex is for grown folks. There are levels of sex, and kinky activity is somewhere near the top. So if you have a girl who is still down there on the lower rungs of regular sex, either you need to find yourself a grown woman or wait for her to become one. Yes, it is true what they say: Every woman has a little freak inside her. Still, it’s up to you to figure out whether or not you’re the one who can bring it out of her. If you want to increase your chances, pick a woman who’s secure with herself and her body.

PREP WORK:’Alcohol is a good bet. I like Grey Goose, but find out what works best for her. Make sure she drinks enough so she’s got a good buzz going, but not too messed up that she’s on the verge of passing out. A comatose partner does not equal to kinky sex. You can also go for a phone conversation to warm her up. Talk about what you want to do with her and don’t be afraid to be a little vulgar. Kinky talk, like kinky sex, should be raw and uncut. If you’re really serious about it, then you can surprise her. Here’s how: The next time you’re home alone and you know she’s coming over, put on a good porno and tell her to let herself in. When she comes in the room, make sure you’ve got your ‘pride’ worked up to the density of steel and sitting right out in the open for her. And don’t forget to blast the volume on the porno.’

GETTING DOWN TO DO THE DIRTY: ‘Here are some things on the list of kinky: sucking toes, having sex with your girl while she’s upside-down, biting nipples, having sex in a Jacuzzi…with an audience, spontaneous making-out, ass-slapping, hair pulling, even some light choking–all of that is kinky. Dirty talk is kinky. It’s the only time a man can get away with calling me a ‘dirty slut.’ Putting your finger in a woman’s backside is kinky. Unusual settings are kinky, like on the hood o a car in the rain or on an airplane. And always, always remember: Money is kinky. Sex on a bed covered with bills, now that’s a turn-on!’

WHAT’S NOT KINKY: ‘…There are plenty of things that used to be kinky and aren’t anymore or were never kinky to begin with. Trying to have sex with a girl when she’s not wet is NOT kinky (I’m always wet, so this isn’t really a problem for me, personally). The missionary position is NOT kinky. A man screaming too loud is NOT kinky. Sucking on the clit too hard is NOT kinky. Fingering a woman’s vagina is NOT kinky. If these are the kind of things your girl considers kinky, you’ve got your work cut out for you.

Deelishis says when your done with the above, you’ve graduated to Grown Folks Sex…

Word on the Streets mag got this Lil Wayne bit solved

Let me say this... I fully agree with all that they have to say. I will say some of the claims like about Gillie I'm not sure but I agree with the opinion on Wayne.

Well hip-hop here is your new classic poster child and representation of what hip-hop has become. A brother who has lost his identity and deals with it by trying to hide himself in syrup. BET named him lyricist of the year over T.I., Jay-Z,Common and NAS. WTF??? Everybody knows that he was not lyrical until Gillie da kid started writing for him and Wayne started studying Jay-Z's style. Call us haters but the truth of the matter is he got a long way to go before he can be classified as lyricist of the year. Did you guys hear Nas's new album? Word on the streets is Wayne has a brand new baby and that's not all. The baby is not with his new engagee Nivea or his ex wife. The word on the streets is it's a jump off. Not that we care but hey it's news and everybody else is talking about it so we wanted to add our 3 cents worth.

Note: You may call us some haters on Wayne but there is a difference between lyricism and delivery. To many people got caught up in his delivery and his production on the album was crazy but he really wasn't talking about nothing. We will see what the revision of the Carter III brings out with all new songs that he will dropping soon.

Jennifer Hudson's family suffers a tragedy

The mother and brother of Academy Award-winning actress and rising music star Jennifer Hudson were found shot to death in the mother's Chicago home on today (Oct. 24), according to reports.

The Chicago Tribune said one of the victims was Hudson's mother, Darnell Donnerson. The entertainment website TMZ, citing a neighbor, said Hudson's brother Jason also was found dead.

A cousin who lived nearby discovered the bodies, TMZ said. The Tribune, quoting police, said the killings may be linked to a domestic disturbance.

The Chicago Police Department confirmed two people were found shot to death at the residence and said it was "being investigated as a homicide." But police did not release the identities of the victims or other details.

Other media reports said a 7-year-old boy, also a family member, was taken from the scene and that police had issued an alert for him.

Hudson won an Academy Award for her role in "Dreamgirls." Her self-titled debut album for Arista was released last month, and its single, "Spotlight," is No. 1 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

Nickleback is interested in... a new album?!?!

Gary Graff, Detroit

Chad Kroeger laughs when asked if the phenomenal sales for 2005's "All the Right Reasons" gave confidence to Nickelback as it set out to make its sixth studio album, "Dark Horse."

"No, because look what we have to try to live up to," says Kroeger, who co-founded the quartet in 1995 in Alberta, Canada. "There's a mountain sitting behind us. We've got to try and put something out now that's going to stand up to that. So for us, the bar has been raised ridiculously high."

"Dark Horse," which comes out Nov. 18 on Roadrunner and was co-produced by Mutt Lange, certainly has a target to clear. Buoyed by seven multiformat hit singles and five No. 1 videos-and apparently unaffected by widespread critical drubbing-"All the Right Reasons" has sold 10 million copies worldwide, according to Roadrunner, and spent a staggering 110 consecutive weeks in the top 30 of the Billboard 200. It fell off the chart Oct. 11 after a 156-week run, the longest registered in 11 years.

"All the Right Reasons" also took off in a big way this summer in Europe, meaning Kroeger and his bandmates-brother and bassist Mike Kroeger, guitarist Ryan Peake and drummer Daniel Adair-were multitasking across two continents as they recorded "Dark Horse" and promoted its predecessor.

"We've never left the previous album cycle," Roadrunner president Jonas Nachsin says. "That's got to be a seriously positive sign going into a new one. It's become such a monster to try to put our arms around, we're just doing the best we can to guide it into fruition at this point."

Terrence Howard is no longer Rhodey for Iron Man 2

Bringing comic book characters and their stories to life seems to have been resurrected as a screenplay alternative. It’s not hard to imagine why Hollywood seems to be turning to comic books as plot and character sources, given the huge successes registered by the comic-to-screen transitions of Superman, Batman, Spiderman and the like.

Iron Man was one of the latest screen adaptations of a comic book. The main character, Iron Man, is a rich man who gets kidnapped in order to build a destructive weapon. He suffers a heart injury and instead makes a power suit, which saves his life and enables him to continue living as a superhero. In the first adaptation, he was brilliantly portrayed by Robert Downey Jr., part of a breath-taking cast which also included Terence Howard, Jeff Bridges, Gwyneth Paltrow and Paul Bettany.

Terrence Howard played the part of Rhodey, Iron Man’s link between his own company, Stark Industries, and the military acquisitions department. Although his performance was widely acclaimed, Marvel Studios decided to replace him in Iron Man 2 with Don Cheadle (“Ocean’s” series, “Hotel Rwanda”, “Crash”, “Swordfish”, and “Traffic”). Howard says the change was sprung on him without any kind of explanation.

The other party, namely Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios President of Production, refused to comment on the event, which prompts us to believe that Howard was indeed faced with the decision without any clarification. He did, however, say that rumors are common in showbiz, but that doesn’t account for the fact that Howard doesn’t have a contract with Marvel anymore.

Slash's new album is going to be a free situation for him

Gary Graff, Detroit

A solo album or the third Velvet Revolver album -- or possibly both -- are on Slash's docket for 2009. The guitarist tells Billboard.com that he's "at the very tail end of the demo phase" for the solo project, which he hopes to start recording early next year.

He began coming up with material during Velvet Revolver's last tour and says that while it will have references to his work with that band and Guns N' Roses, "there's really no particular direction. I just wanted to take a little bit of a break from all the politics and the democracy that is a band and just sort of do my own thing for a little bit. There will be a lot of stuff I don't have the freedom to do in a band situation."

Slash plans to use different singers for each of the album's songs but isn't divulging who's on the list yet. "They're all sort of well-known singers," he says. "It's sort of like how I go play on a lot of other people's records, so other people will just play on this one."

Oprah got a lawsuit on her hands

Ahh Damn…Oprah Winfrey is being sued by a Louisiana man who is claiming that she and her attorney made alse statements that led the FBI to arrest him on charges that he tried to extort the talk-show host. Keifer Bonivillain was arrested in 2006 after he allegedly recorded telephone conversations with an employee of Winfrey’s production company and told a company associate he wanted to publish a book based on the recordings. The FBI said he claimed to have offers from publishers and tabloids ranging from $500,000 to $3 million. Bonvillian charges were dismissed with a condition that he perform 50 hours of community service, but now he is seeking damages of $180 million from Winfrey, her attorney and the FBI in the federal lawsuit filed Tuesday.

“There was substantial damage done to my name and reputation on a world level,” he wrote. “The extent of my damages is vast.” Chip Babcock, a lawyer for Winfrey’s Harpo Productions, denied the allegations in Bonvillain’s suit.

“And we know that this whole episode started when the plaintiff wiretapped a Harpo employee in California,” he said. “We advised (Bonvillain) that we believe that wiretapping was illegal, and this case will give us an opportunity to determine whether we were right about that.”

Lyfe Jennings brush with the law

R&B singer/songwriter Lyfe Jennings was arrested Sunday on gun charges in Smyrna. Supposedly this dude was trying to locate the mother of his children, police said. Jennings, 30, whose real name is Chester Jennings, kicked in the door of a residence on Springwoods Drive in Smyrna while looking for Joy Bounds (his baby momm and former manager), according to an arrest warrant. A bit Psycho don’t you think?! He fired the gun in the street and later tried to run from the Smyrna police when they arrived, police said. A chase ensued and Jennings ended up crashing his Vette. He was charged with felony weapon possession by a convicted felon and he faces charges of attempting to elude, as well as discharging a firearm near a public highway and refusing to take the sobriety test. He posted a $50,000 bond Monday night. Lyfe was in prison from 1992-2002 after being convicted of arson. Ummmm…so much for this dude’s positive appeal. I thought he turned his LYFE around!???

Gary Busey will go crop duster on ur dog...if he's coverd in coke..

I love my friend Mike I really do and so as a way to show we are drinking pals and nerds to the end of our days I went ahead and made this the top piece of the day. Gary Busey... well shit what can I say...

According to the National Enquirer:

Wildman Gary Busey had bottomed out big time when he went bow-wow-wowing for coke!

The Buddy Holly Story star who claims he's been sober for years admits he went cuckoo for canine after his dog rolled in the priceless china white.

"I went in like a crop-duster with my nose flying first and snorted the cocaine off the dog," Busey said in a recent interview.

But Busey got more than coke up his nose as he snorted dog stuff up as well.
"You get a little bugs, you get little hairs, you get grease and goo from the ground; it's not at all a healthy thing to do.

"But when you're an addict, you don't think of health, you think about destruction of yourself unconsciously."

Well shit... I don't know what to say either. Just look at the man's picture again.

Who am I madder at? Canada or Gabriel Aubry

I don't really put personal feelings out here much but let me say something... I love Halle Berry... no I LOVE HALLE BERRY. I can't explain it in as many words via text. Anyways I'm disgusted... it's like taking the Mona Lisa out of the Louvre and putting in a museum in Russia (I still love you Russia). Also I'm not a gay man by any means but fuck sake Gabriel Aubry is one pretty motha, hence why he stole my Halle.

The Montreal Gazette reports:

A small town in the Laurentians just got a little more beautiful. Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry and her Montreal partner, model Gabriel Aubry, have bought a house in St. Hippolyte, Que.

The million-dollar home, which the Hollywood star and her boyfriend reportedly bought several weeks ago, sits on 63 acres of land overlooking Molson Lake.

Aubry, who is the father of Berry's daughter, grew up near Montreal and his parents still live in the suburb of Laval.

"It feels great, Aubry said. "Anything we can do in our own hometown is always a good feeling.

Note: I love my momma and pops too but I don't need to be moving places they make mucho dinero buy a condo.

More pictures of Halle just being fine as hell:

Honestly sometime I wonder about Hollywood and how being rich and famous would be great! Then I see some of the crazy ass folks doing something or better yet their kids and those kids significant others to top it off. I don't know who's the bigger idiot Mylie, Billy Ray, or this fool, her BF in the pictures.

PS. Do note, I don't understand the white boy shirtless running around with other shirtless men thing. I'm sorry but that's a bit rainbow with it.

Lindsey Lohan loves to keep imploding herself

Lindsay Lohan was slated to appear on six episodes of Ugly Betty, but it's now been axed down to only four due to her on-set antics which, at one point, involved nearly torching the crew with her firecrotch. Page Six reports:

One production source said, "It was a mess. Lindsay would show up every day with an entourage of people. She smoked 24/7, and after she left, they had to repaint her dressing room it was such a mess."

In addition, Lohan "would obsessively cut pictures of herself out of the tabloids like she was creating some sort of scrapbook and refused to go on set until America was there - it was a power play."

One episode, titled "Granny Pants," was about how Lohan, playing Betty's high school nemesis, would "de-pants" Ferrera. But Ferrera exacts her revenge and pulls down Lohan's pants instead. "Lindsay wasn't wearing any underwear," the source said.

At this stage in her career, Lindsay should be showing up to any work she can get with goddamn bells on because right now she's about one fiery cooter flash away from doing cereal commercials. I mean, honestly, who's watching a TV show or renting a movie these days based solely on the fact that it stars Lindsay Lohan? (Not counting Michael Lohan and Samantha Ronson's penises.)

San Francisco may become prostitute friendly

SAN FRANCISCO, California (AP) -- In this live-and-let-live town, where medical marijuana clubs do business next to grocery stores and an annual fair celebrates sadomasochism, prostitutes could soon walk the streets without fear of arrest.
A sex worker who goes by the name of Violet stands at a San Francisco, California, bus stop.

San Francisco would become the first major U.S. city to decriminalize prostitution if voters next month approve Proposition K, a measure that forbids local authorities from investigating, arresting or prosecuting anyone for selling sex.

The ballot question technically would not legalize prostitution, since state law still prohibits it, but the measure would eliminate the power of local law enforcement officials to go after prostitutes.

Proponents say the measure will free up $11 million the police spend each year arresting prostitutes and allow them to form collectives.

"It will allow workers to organize for our rights and for our safety," said Patricia West, 22, who said she has been selling sex for about a year by placing ads on the Internet. She moved to San Francisco in May from Texas to work on Proposition K.

Even in tolerant San Francisco, where the sadomasochism fair draws thousands of tourists and a pornographic video company is housed in a former armory, the measure faces an uphill battle, with much of the political establishment opposing it.

Some form of prostitution is legal in two states. Brothels are allowed in rural counties in Nevada. And Rhode Island permits the sale of sex behind closed doors between consulting adults, but it prohibits street prostitution and brothels.

In 2004, almost two-thirds of voters in nearby Berkeley rejected decriminalization. But proponents of Proposition K say their proposal has a better shot in San Francisco, which they believe is more sexually liberal than the city across the bay.

After all, the world's oldest profession has long been established here. During the Gold Rush, the neighborhood closest to the piers was a seedy pleasure center of sex, gambling and drinking known as the Barbary Coast.

These days, on certain corners, prostitutes sell their bodies day and night, ducking into doorways and alleys when police pass. One recent afternoon in the Mission District, six prostitutes were plying their trade on a single block.

Police made 1,583 prostitution arrests in 2007 and expect to make a similar number this year. But the district attorney's office says most defendants are fined, placed in diversion programs or both. Fewer than 5 percent get prosecuted for solicitation, which is a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail.

Proposition K has been endorsed by the local Democratic Party. But the mayor, the district attorney, the police department and much of the business community oppose the idea. They contend that it would increase street prostitution, allow pimps the run of neighborhoods and hamper the fight against sex trafficking, which would remain illegal because it involves forcing people into the sex trade.

The San Francisco Chronicle editorialized against the measure, saying it could make the city a magnet for prostitution.

If the proposal passes, "we wouldn't be able to investigate prostitution, and it's going to be pretty difficult for us to locate these folks who are victims of trafficking otherwise," said Capt. Al Pardini, head of the police department's vice unit. "It's pretty rare that we get a call that says, 'I'm a victim of human trafficking' or 'I suspect human trafficking in my neighborhood.' "

The proposition would also prohibit police from accepting federal or state funds for sex trafficking investigations that involve racial profiling. Such investigations often arise from raids on brothels that advertise as Asian massage parlors.

"We feel that repressive policies don't help trafficking victims and that human rights-based approaches, including decriminalization, are actually more effective," said Carol Leigh, co-founder of the Bay Area Sex Workers Advocacy Network and a longtime advocate for prostitutes' rights.

But San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris said the ballot question mistakenly assumes that prostitution is a victimless crime.

"The crime of prostitution does not exist by itself," Harris said. "Along with it come pimps, johns and other crimes that really impact the safety of neighborhoods."

If the measure passes, supporters say, prostitutes would not feel the need for pimps as protection. But opponents insist that it would embolden pimps who trap drug addicts into prostitution by plying them with drugs.

"The proponents usually paint a fairly rosy picture of two consenting adults and a monetary exchange at the end," Pardini said. "They don't factor in the people that are being exploited and people that are being controlled, the ones manipulated both physically and chemically."

Liz Claireborne sells ENYCE to Sean John

Liz Claireborne bought ENYCE in 2003 for $114 million, and the Sean John company purchased this brand for $20 million, thats a great business deal.

Of the deal Combs said:

"Enyce is a brand that I have always admired, and they have been a very important player in the young men's sportswear arena for over a decade. I am really excited to bring it into our portfolio of brands that already includes Sean John and Zac Posen. Given our track record of success in marketing products such as Ciroc Vodka, Unforgivable by Sean John, and all of our television titles, I look forward to adding our expertise to an already hot fashion line. Our long-term plan is to grow the Enyce brand through innovative marketing, expansion of the menswear and boy's lines, and launching into new licensing categories. The current economic climate may be challenging, but we believe it is also an opportunity, and we are really excited to add Enyce to our lineup.

Liz Claireborne Inc said in a statement that they can not give the proper attention to the brand. I think they tried to jump on the urban apparel bandwagon back in 2003 and failed because its not what they do. In a time where other companies are not closing down or not making much investments, I'm happy that Diddy is stepping up and resume's business as usual.

Neyo don't beef he just a lova sorry Yung Berg

When Ne-yo was asked during a recent interview about his response to Yung Berg’s diss, he simply said that beefing is not his thing. “Response for what?” he said about going back at Berg. “That ain’t my lane, dude. I don’t beef. I don’t do that. That ain’t my thing. I don’t do dis records. I don’t do beef. I don’t do any of that blogs talking about cats. I don’t do that. That ain’t my thing. I’m a grown man. I got money to make.”

Neyo goes on to say, “I can’t work with people that’s doing this for the fame element or the money element,” …”I think that’s what’s destroying music. You got cats out here that are copycatting and doing stuff that’s popular. You know, doing it because that’s what’s in right now, whatever the case may be — but basically what you’re doing is killing music. You’re killing the creative element of what this is, which was the basis of this whole thing, which is self-expression.”

50's new album to feature Eminem & Dr. Dre

Mariel Concepcion, N.Y.

50 Cent's new album will boast production and guest turns from mentors Dr. Dre and Eminem. As previously reported, "Before I Self Destruct" is due Dec. 9 via Shady/Aftermath/Interscope. Producer Scott Storch helmed first single "Get Up."

The package will also include a 90-minute, feature-length movie about an inner city boy named Clarence who sets to avenge the death of his mother. 50 Cent wrote, directed and starred in the film, the trailer for which can be viewed here.

"My film captures the harsh realities that reflect so many communities today," 50 Cent says statement. "There will be some who will greatly identify with the characters and the situations presented and then there will be others who may be shocked at the struggles that go on in the inner city. I made the film for both groups."

As previously reported, it appeared to be that much like last year, 50 Cent and Kanye West would battle it out for marketplace domination, as both announced they would release albums only a week apart in December. But West bumped up "808s & Heartbreak" from Dec. 9 to Nov. 25 after finishing it ahead of schedule.

Last September, both men released new albums on Sept. 11, with West's "Graduation" outselling 50's "Curtis" 957,000 to 691,000.

Tim McGraw not down with that nonsense Curb Records put out...

Ken Tucker, Nashville

Country superstar Tim McGraw has apologized to his fans for Curb Records' decision to release a third greatest hits package of his material. According to a release from his publicist, "Greatest Hits 3" was released on Oct. 7 without McGraw's involvement.

McGraw has been working on a new studio album for over a year and debuted three new songs on this year's "Live Your Voice Tour," according to his publicist. "It was his desire to have the new record out this fall but Curb wanted to release a greatest hits CD to extend McGraw's recording contract term," the statement reads.

"I am saddened and disappointed that my label chose to put out another hits album instead of new music," McGraw said in a statement. "I've only had one studio album since my last hits package. It has to be just as confusing to the fans as it is to me. I had no involvement in the creation or presentation of this record. Sure I love the songs and I don't want to take anything away from all the creative people who were a part of making those records. But the whole concept is an embarrassment to me as an artist.

Green Day back to the lab with Butch Vig

Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.

Confirming news that Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson let slip recently on "The Carson Daly Show," Green Day is in the studio with veteran producer Butch Vig working on the follow-up to 2004's "American Idiot."

In a video posted over the weekend on YouTube, the band is seen in the control room as the camera pans over to Vig, who smiles and extends his middle finger. Instrumental bits of two new songs are heard in the background.

Vig is best known for his work on Nirvana's "Nevermind" but has also logged time behind the boards with Smashing Pumpkins and Sonic Youth, in addition to his musician role in Garbage. Of late, he has produced albums from Jimmy Eat World, Against Me! and Tad.

Green Day worked with producer Rob Cavallo on "American Idiot," a runaway smash that has sold 5.8 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The group reappeared this spring masquerading as the band Foxboro Hot Tubs, releasing an album and playing a handful of small club shows. The upcoming Green Day album, as-yet-untitled, is expected next year via Warner Bros.

The 18-track "Road To Revolution" was recorded on June 29 at the 65,000-capacity Milton Keynes National Bowl. The concert was attended by nearly 55,000 fans, the biggest crowd in Projekt Revolution's six-year history, according to the band.

"We've played more than two hundred Projekt Rev shows to hundreds of thousands of fans, and while each of those gigs has been special, the Milton Keynes show has been one of the most memorable," Linkin Park co-lead singer Chester Bennington said in a statement.

"Road To Revolution" follows the Linkin Park's 2007 release "Minutes to Midnight," which has sold 2.6 million copies in the United States. The set debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200.

Featured Artist: Keane

Paul Sexton, London

The multiplatinum English band that was almost derailed by personal problems has relocated its mojo.

Keane by name and keen by nature, the melodic rock trio from Sussex has sold about 8 million copies of its two albums, according to its U.K. label, since emerging some four-and-a-half years ago. With the subsequent drink- and drug-related tribulations of lead singer Tom Chaplin now firmly in the past, the band's creative enthusiasm is refueled to overflowing.

"I've seen what it's like on the other side, and I don't ever want to go there again. This is a liberated record," Chaplin says of "Perfect Symmetry," released Oct. 13 internationally on Island and the following day in the United States on Interscope. "When you sail so close to the edge and then come back, you learn to appreciate what it is [you enjoy] again. We didn't have that sense of fun for a while. We were pretty earnest."

Keane's 2004 debut, "Hopes and Fears," racked up global sales estimated at 5.5 million by Island. So a "mere" 2.5 million for 2006 follow-up "Under the Iron Sea" was something of a letdown. Nielsen SoundScan shows the respective U.S. figures as 976,000 and 373,000, although "Sea" charted higher, debuting at No. 4 on the Billboard 200; "Hopes" had peaked at No. 45.

"We've built up a huge live following in America and the first record obviously did incredibly well," Chaplin says. "We toured there with the second record and the crowds got bigger, but [the album] didn't seem to impact as much as the first one. Whether the Americans get this record or not I don't know, but I hope the openness and poppiness of it will have a big impact."

Magic Johnson not happy about the comment on his HIV

Essence.com reports that Former NBA great Earvin “Magic” Johnson retired in 1991, shortly after he announced having HIV. Now he has fired back at a pair of Minneapolis talk show radio hosts who have accused him of faking his HIV status. During a live broadcast on a conservative radio station, host Chris Baker asked fellow broadcaster Langdon Perry: “You think Magic faked AIDS for sympathy?” Perry responded, “I’m convinced that Magic faked AIDS.” The context for the comments are not clear, but Magic issued a statement saying: “Millions are dying from HIV/AIDS, and the fact that they would make jokes about my status is unbelievable.”

Jeezy on Politics

Young Jeezy is still on his political campaign to get everyone to vote. The Snowman is leaning heavily toward the Democratic side, especially since Republican presidential nominee John McCain chose Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate.

“I like Joe [Biden] a little bit better than Sarah,” Jeezy said recently. “I understand she’s the soccer mom and all that, and that’s good. But if something happens to McCain, then what? Do you want a soccer mom to run the country? That’s cool. I mean, she can run the house, though. I like Joe, though. Definitely. You got to be tough. I mean, I’m definitely not saying anything against what women do, but at the same time, Joe’s firm, Barack [Obama]’s firm. They’re straight to the point. They don’t beat around the bush. Both parties can do the job, but if I had my pick, I’m definitely going with Joe and Barack.”

In related news, Barack Obama has purchased a half-hour of primetime television on CBS and NBC to air at 8pm on Oct. 29, less than a week before the general election and one night before the start of November sweeps. The price tag is said to be in the “tens of millions of dollars.”

The Parents Television Council, they glad Rap City gone

The Parents Television Council (PTC), the Enough is Enough Campaign for Corporate Responsibility, the National Congress of Black Women, and Industry Ears were very happy that BET decided to boot off “Rap City.”

PTC and Enough is Enough Campaign’s recently did a study of daytime music video programming from BET and MTV and the result as of March 2008 indicated that children who watched BET’s “Rap City” and “106 & Park” and MTV’s “Sucker Free” were bombarded with adult content which were sexual, violent, profane or obscene once every 38 seconds.

Check out the official statement by PTC President Tim Winter; Enough is Enough Campaign Founder Dr. Delman Coates; National Congress of Black Women Chair Dr. E. Faye Williams; and Industry Ears Co-Founder Paul Porter:

“We are heartened by the recent changes at BET, and we are gratified that our collective efforts were a catalyst for this positive change. It is apparent that our voices were heard by the public, by the corporate sponsors who underwrite television programming and by BET network executives. Parents across this country want a cessation of marketing harmful, graphic and offensive images to children. But let us be clear about our goal: we are not trying to get a particular show cancelled or a particular executive fired. Rather, our goal is a reduction in the harmful and offensive messages on BET and MTV programming - especially when the programs are targeted at children. We have called for the networks to take responsibility for their products, and this program’s cancellation is evidence of a step in the right direction.”

Jim Jones once again thinks he can rap... and should be rewarded for it.

In a recent interview with Complex Magazine, Jones says he was deliberately left off the track which is featured on T.I.’s album Paper Trail.

“I think it was deliberate. I really do think it was deliberate; maybe in my sick twisted mind I’m a little crazy. People know who set the precedent as far as fashion in this industry and people know who damn near changed the world as far as fashion. You look at people, they went from the urban world of clothing, back when Rocawear and Sean John was cool. And then in the past 5 years I stepped in and gave them a taste of what rock and roll looks like from my side. I guess people would say from an urban side, and it seemed to catch on like wildfire, to the point that people was going to stores and asking for that Jim Jones look.”

Jones revealed that he is coming out with his own Swagger Like Us version.

“Me and Juelz had Chink do our own beat, I have Weezy’s verse in my inbox right now and we kept the hook of that song because it was a sample. So we’re going to put that as a bonus track on the album, and put it to the streets. “No one on the corner got swag like you we don’t Rocawear that’s for fags like you.”
